I AM MARK MCCORMICK AND TYPE INDICATION™

I was born and raised in a small village just outside the vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne. During my time in local school education I always knew I wanted to work in a creative industry. Beginning higher education at the Newcastle college of Art and Design gave me the opportunity to develop my skills and widen my knowledge of graphic design. Over the next four years I successfully gained a ND in Graphic Design and a HND in Infographics/design & News Media.

On graduating I was awarded the Chris Sergeant scholarship 2004 with The Sunday Times. Shortly after my scholarship I have worked for The Telegraph, The Observer, EMAP and Foxall Associates and various other companies and I am now currently at The Guardian. During this period I also won various awards including a gold, two silver and a bronze at SND/Malofiej, two gold and a silver at Fresh-awards and an excellence award. Whilst working here I was given the opportunity to redesign the infographics for the new Guardian format. Working with Michael Robinson (Guardian graphics editor) and Mark Porter (Guardian art director) we redesigned the infographics for Publico a Portuguese newspaper and recently finished a similar project for the NZZ newspaper in Switzerland.

I have also work in collaboration with Foxall Associates on various design projects for companies such as Yapi Kredi ones of the biggest banks in Turkey, Beko electronics and Aquascutum.

I also work on number of personal projects which you can find on my flickr or my work history. I currently living between Newcastle and London.
